About
The Height of Cuisine. Easy, fun, elegant, delicious events.
Hello! I’m Jonathan Baltazar, a private chef, caterer, and event planner, passionate about creating unforgettable experiences through food, a cultivated atmosphere, and thoughtful details.
Whether you’re hosting a wine-pairing dinner, a raucous but tasteful gathering, or a milestone celebration, I bring a bespoke approach to every event - combining seasonal ingredients, global influences, and elegant presentation with expert logistical planning.
My journey began when I was studying abroad in Paris while gaining a degree in Psychology at UC Berkeley. I fell in love with how Parisians interacted with their food; with celebrations, with shopping at the street markets, with elegant, yet simple and correct classic dishes.
After finishing my degree, I worked in the tech industry, and, much to the chagrin of my parents, I enrolled in the Cordon Bleu in Pasadena to pursue a Culinary degree. I then went on to work at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, then Campanile and Lucques in Los Angeles. I went out on my own in 2005, first cooking onsite for a few prominent entertainment clients, then began taking on more elaborate affairs and more high profile individuals. Over time, I found my passion extended beyond the plate: I love designing the full experience - from custom menus and table scapes to the complete look and feel of the entire evening.
